Well we finally made it...Final Dress Rehearsal. You all looked wonderful last night and the show is beautiful. Tonight the call is 6:30 but if you need more time then feel free to come in earlier because there will be someone there to let you in. Cast photo is at 7 PM. We will start rehearsal at 7:30 and after the run then I will block curtain calls. Notes will be minimal because this is it, your show.

We have really come so far in the creation of this production. I am so pleased with your performances and know that in the next few days you will be refining them even further. You all look so impressive and our gorgeous set compliments. It surpasses my initial vision. I guess you can tell I am happy.
Tonight we run through again. We will begin at 7 PM. This with be a technical rehearsal so the technical issues will continued to be worked out and we may at times need to stop the run. Thank you for your patience.
Tomorrow and Thursday are full dress rehearsals and we will begin at 7:30 which is the same start time as the actual performances. Beginning tomorrow we ask that all cast and crew report to the theatre at 6:30 to prepare (call at 6:30). Long weekend of set construction and painting. Set is awesome. Today we have a cue to cue tech rehearsal at 4 PM then a run at 6 PM with lights and maybe sound. All cast are called to rehearsal. This is tech week and we open in 5 days. Please let go of the scripts. If you need extra help with running lines let me know and we will see what we can do to get you some tutoring.

Great rehearsal last night. We are finished editing the script until we need to for the school show. As discussed last night we are adding a rehearsal on Saturday, March 5th at 6 PM. Technical rehehearsal cue to cue will be on Sunday, Marth 6th at 4 PM (no actors required) then a full tech runthrough with the full cast will follow at 6 PM. The remaider of tech week is as scheduled.

Rehearsal went even better last night and it is looking like it should. Keep studying your lines so that you can be off book ASAP. This will give you freedom to portray your character authentically. Remember to feel it not fake it.
Tonight we run through the show. Rehearsal at 7 PM. We will also have a second costume review so that lighting designers can understand how to light you up.

I was pleased with run through last night and love how things look on the set. We need to be off book to take the play to performance level so keep working. It is appreciated.
I have made some decisions to edit a few scenes in addition to what Bret has given you. I will give you those changes tonight when we go over last night's notes. We need to shorten the length and although I realize we will decrease time as we pick up the pace it is still too long. We will be editing even further for the school shows so be prepared.
I am very happy with the overall production and think you have a great show. Thanks for all your ongoing work. See you at rehearsal tonight a 7PM. All cast are called for the run through. Today is the deadline for bios. I finally got mine in this morning so don't delay further.

Set Construction Sat Feb 26th

Sat. Feb 26th from 10am to 6pm we will be on the BCT Main Stage putting up the Romeo and Juliet set. All the pieces are there, the set outline is painted on the stage floor, and we are ready to build. We need your help. If you can help, please plan on attending 10am-6pm tomorrow (Sat 26th of Feb) - use the ramp door on Buffalo St.

Rehearsal tonight at 7 PM. Run Part 2. All cast are called to rehearsal. If you are not working on the run Brett will be available to asisst you with your character and help choreograph the long pieces. Brett has also been given permission by me to cut parts of the scenes to assist with getting the play down to a reasonable length of time. If you have questions let me know.

You don't want to miss Romeo & Juliet at the Barrow-Civic Theatre.
Directing a play that is as timeless as Romeo & Juliet by the Master, William Shakespeare, is a delightful opportunity to visit some of the worlds best ever story telling. The characters are so passionate and the twists and turns that human drama is full of such as love, hate, joy, and death never get old even though the language of the play is. This production will invite the audience into a timeless dream where time and place are not as important as the meaning of the story itself.
Romeo and Juliet are what we call in our modern age “just kids.” They want what they want when they want it and they want it all now. Family life being what it is and the lack of tolerance for families that are “different” create the fertile ground in which rebellious love can flourish. The tragedy of this play is that what was loved most, the children, choose death over a life without the love they so passionately crave. Last night went very well. I am getting REALLY excited. This is going to be a great production. Tonight we will be working on Part 1 again and we will pick up where we left off on Monday. If we have time we will return to the beginning of Part 1 and rehearse again. ALL CAST ARE CALLED TO REHEARSAL. If you are not on stage or waiting for an entrance talk to Bret about anything you want some coaching on (don't be shy...that is what he is there for and I can't assign special sessions all the time). If you are not in need of the coaching please study your lines. Every hour counts at this stage of rehearsal.

As to be expected, transition to the main stage was choppy and there is much work to do to get our production up, running, and at the performance level. But, I am sure we will.
Tonight we will run Part 2. All cast members are called to rehearsal even if you are not in this part because since we have an assistant director, he can pull you aside and assist with various scenes that need work. Also, when you are not busy you can be studying your lines. This is an important phase in the rehearsal process so please stay committed, focused, and aware of what is going on around you.

Sorry about the cancellation on last Thursday. Hope everyone enjoyed the extra break. This weekend is the beginning of crunch time. We are gathering set pieces on Sunday so if you are available please meet at the theater at 1 PM. On Monday, February 21st, we will be running Part 1 of the show. This is all scenes up to and including ACT 3, scene 1.
Lisa will need you to try on various costuming pieces next week and if you have agreed to bring in personal items to be used as part of your costume please bring these items in beginning Monday. Our costume parade is on Wednesday, February 23rd, and hopefully we can asses everyone and determine if the costume will work for the show.
We are at the stage where I am really going to be pushing everyone to project, be consistent with blocking and stage gestures, and portray the character you are playing. Please do not ever take anything I might say to you that is critical in nature personally. You are my cast and I am going to do what I need to do to pull out your very best performance. Study lines. Rehearsal tonight will be a clean up and review of Acts IV and V. All cast who are in either or both of these acts are called to rehearsal. If you have conflicts please let us know.
This will be our last rehearsal in the Little Theater as we will have the main stage beginning next week. We will need help on Sunday at 1PM to begin moving set pieces from the wharehouse to the theatre then until we open there is much to do. Your help is much needed so stayed tuned to the blog.

As a reminder to the entire cast please remember that you are expected to be off book by Monday, February 28th. We will be splitting the show into two parts so that there can be an intermission. Part 1 is up to and including the Act III, scene 1. Part 2 will be the rest of the play. Next week we will run Part 1 on Monday and Wednesday on the main stage and run Part 2 Tuesday and Thursday. We will be adjusting to the main stage as the set is constructed around us. Your attendance, focus, and committment to your performance is essential in these last few weeks.
Set pieces will be moved from the warehouse to the theatre on Sunday, February 20th. Your help is greatly needed and will continue to be needed as we build, paint, and dress the set.
